The Freidio business starts in 1997 with the coltivation of medicinal plants. From the beginning, genepy (artemisia mutellina) was the variety most suitable to the altitude and to the openess of the land belonging to the firm.
In order to keep the land uncontaminated it is cultivated biologically. In 2002, beside the cultivation, sow the opening of a laboratory to produce the liquor genepy.
The firm is one of the founder members of the association "Genepi Occitan". The association has three objectives: to support the growers technically and scientifically in order to guarantee a fruitful cultivation, to set precise rules of cultivation to guarantee the quality of the products, to start a campaign to promote the product at large.
The trade mark "Genepi Occitan" was born on these objectives to allow the consumer to recognise the products that follow the rules set by the association.
